2011 NASCAR Nationwide MontreaPresented to a fifth, and perhaps last time on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the NASCAR weekend in Montreal was once again brought together tens of thousands of spectators. It must be said that with the first starting line up of Jacques Villeneuve and Alex Tagliani for the main race (NASCAR Nationwide Series), the weather and the participation of several stars of motorsport in North America, the attractions were not wanting.

Nationwide, Jacques Villeneuve led the debate in the first two thirds of the race, but during a recovery, he missed his braking into the first corner and knocked the Australian Marcos Ambrose by taking the track. A move that led to the reply, logic, Ambrose few turns later Villeneuve, who sent one-to-tail. If Ambrose’s car did not suffer much of the contact caused by Villeneuve climbed rapidly since the pack and eventually won the race, Jacques lost several minutes to sink. Repairs that cost him two laps and relegated to the twenty-seventh final.

Villeneuve’s teammate on one of the Team Penske Dodge, Alex Tagliani was more consistent than its predecessor and harvest the fruit of his efforts. Second behind the Ford of Ambrose, Tagliani has not only proved his tactical skills in a race as long (nearly three hours) but was also capable of fighting at the forefront in NASCAR while avoiding collisions, many this year on the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Americans Michael McDowell and Steve Wallace took the third and fourth final positions. The latter probably does not deserve such a result, acquired after a little pushing everything that moved before him. Once again, Wallace has tarnished the image of NASCAR by his behavior. One of his loss of control in particular prematurely terminated in the race for Patrick Carpentier, honored before the start since this race was the last of his racing career.

Other drivers are classified Quebec Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, twenty-eighth after losing two laps after running out of fuel and Maryeve Dufault who for his first race for life in NASCAR Nationwide thirtieth ends after performing two one- to-tail. As for Andrew Ranger, he dominated the race unchallenged NASCAR Canadian Tire submitted in support of the Nationwide. But he failed to succeed in the latter, to give up after an engine failure on his Dodge. For his first NASCAR Nationwide start on a road circuit, Danica Patrick has held his position well. Unfortunately, she lost one place in the “Top 15″ for the finish, due to brake problems on his Chevrolet.

Current international motorsport this last weekend also passed by the Michigan where the Sprint Cup NASCAR had a race on an oval. The victory went to Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson and in front of Brad Keselowski. In Europe, the World Rally Championship made a stopover in Germany. Dominated by his teammate and countryman Sebastien Loeb in the first stage, the young French Sebastien Ogier Citroen imposed its DS3 Loeb WRC after having suffered a puncture. World Championship drivers, Loeb is leader.
