Volvo Drive Go Hybrid 1The car manufacturer Volvo from Sweden developed three different range-extender concepts to find the best compromise. “This is a major step forward on our way to the electro-mobility.” So far, the high cost of the battery and the low range against the concept speak electric vehicle. “With a range extender an electric range rises to 1,000 kilometres and more – and all this CO2 emissions of 50 g / km or even below”, so Volvos Vice President Powertrain engineering, Derek Crabb. All three range-extender use (varying) 3-cylinder internal combustion engines are designed on the combustion of petrol, as well as on the combustion of ethanol E85 concepts.
