Italian car maker Maserati has published the first photos of the new “flagship” – Quattroporte model.  Sixth generation luxury sedan got a brand new chassis, better interior, and it threw down some pounds.

The new Maserati Quattroporte will be publicly presented first time in January at the Detroit Motor Show, but now we know that it will run on an entirely new platform.

Compared with the previous generation of the Quattroporte is a new model about 15 cm longer, so its total length will vary somewhere around 5.2 meters. The increase in the total length will be reflected mainly on the wheelbase, which will benefit passengers in the rear seats. Thanks to the extensive use of aluminum, the new Quattroporte will weigh 1940 kg, which is 50 kg less than previous model.

It will use current engine with a capacity of 4.7 liters, which should offer performance about 390 kW (530 hp). Engine will be operated with ZF automatic transmission. I one year from now there should be also four-wheel drive possibility and alternative engines.

For completeness, I would add that the design of a new Maserati Quattroporte is the work of Lorenzo Ramaciottiho, former designer of  Pininfarina studio. He tried to build design related to previous model but at the same time wanted to give the car more dynamic visage.

Inside the new Quattroporte you will find only the best materials. The automaker promises a qualitative improvement against the previous model, which was not bad at all. The interior is dominated by a large screen. One touch screen can be found on the center console, the other is between the devices on the dashboard.

Production will take place in the old Bertone factory in Turin.  Cars will be distributed from there to the whole world, including the USA. The goal of Maserati is to sell 50,000 cars in 2015, while last year they only sold 6200.
